While taking a drive one afternoon, my daughter and I spotted something peeking from the trees in a nearby forest preserve. We pulled over and discovered it was a dollhouse. We decided to venture into the preserve together to get a closer look.
The dollhouse was amazing. The front had been painted with images of the four seasons, and the roof bore images of the night sky and clouds. Tattered wallpaper clung to the walls inside, along with tiny framed pictures. Spray painted on a tree nearby was the name Emily. The house became a playground for our imaginations as we pictured who might live inside its walls.
